About the city

Budapest is a vibrant city in Central Europe, with many cultures mixed together throughout history. With its 1.7 million inhabitants, Budapest is the largest city of Hungary, and the center of cultural and academic life. Both of the two biggest international green movements, Fridays For Future and Extinction Rebellion, are mainly based in Budapest, and also the climate strikes were the biggest in our capital city. Since Bolygó is the first green community space in Hungary, we find our role crucial in making the environmental movement bigger and wider, and also in supporting and empowering the existing grassroots.
