About the venue
Magnit is a community space for youth, activists, and people with brave ideas in Sofia, Bulgaria. The story of Magnit began back in 2019 with the Open Warehouse initiative by Greenpeace Bulgaria. Magnit (e.g. “magnet”) was created as an open space for meetings, creativity, and action for activist groups. Its main goal then was to support climate activists by giving them a free physical space, usually missing for the grassroots and NGOs of Bulgaria, to organize actions, meet, and create events. Since 2024, the identity of Magnit has grown into being a home to the youth community, giving young people the opportunity to have fun, learn, and create together in a cozy and friendly environment.

About the city
Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria where the majority of the population of the country is living, creating, and protesting. What makes Magnit special is its location in the heart of Sofia between the wealthy central parts of the city – with all big decision making institutions, and the less wealthy but artistic neighborhood, located towards the main train station. Magnit has an urban garden, hall for events with a colorful mural and a chill area with a library of books on ecological topics.
